People over 50 have a wealth of life experience and skills to offer, but both getting a job or coping with retiring from work can be difficult. Back on Board gives over 50s information, advice and support to make choices about work and learning, as well as helping them plan the latter part of their working life as they approach retirement.
Our regular Mid life Moves programme offers the opportunity to explore your options, whether you want to get back on board and find work or follow your rainbow as you approach retirement. You can choose from sessions on health, fitness and wellbeing; finance, how to build your confidence;volunteering, learning and practical help with finding work – including self employment.
Back on Board can
- provide information and advice about employment, training and learning opportunities
- help you produce a CV and complete application forms
- help you with job search. There are weekly sessions on Fridays from 1:00p.m to 3:00 p.m for help with internet job searches and on-line job applications
- offer training opportunities including Introduction to computers; Basic Emergency First Aid and Introduction to Care Work,
- offer stepping stones back to work, such as volunteering or work shadowing
- explore new occupational directions, particularly following health problems or redundancy
- explain the wide range of help available for people wanting to set up their own business,
