North Tyneside

Lifelink

Lifelink
This project brings together older and young people to work together for a common purpose. Currently the main focus for Lifelink is on inter-generational discussion groups in schools—a project called ‘Thinking for Change’. These run once a week for a term in different schools across the borough and older volunteers are very welcome.

LifeLink also manages a number of volunteers who regularly go into primary schools to help children with reading and with learning craft skills.

In the past Lifelink has developed inter-generational projects which have included computer skills, young people’s after school clubs, landscaped gardens for sheltered housing, movement to music, reminiscence and local history, and a range of community arts, among others. Through these shared activities, people build relationships and understanding in the community, reducing the fear of crime and promoting a society for all ages.
